YES WE CAN. Seriously, guys, I am crying in joy.
Sun, Oct. 5th, 2008, 04:56 pm . . . WHAT?

Okay. So Time Magazine posts this ludicrous article called " Why Some Women Hate Sarah Palin." Doncha know it's because she's pretty and confident? We're all just jealous bitches. (Someone tossed this out about Hillary during the race, too, because apparently women are supposed to automatically support other women and vote with their ovaries.) The fact of the matter is once a female decides it's over with another female, it's like an end-stage marriage. No matter how seemingly benign, every attribute becomes an affront: the hair, the voice, the husband, the moose-shooting, the glasses, the big family, the making rape victims pay for their own rape test kits. . . . WHAT? Benign, my liberal white ass. Trying to sweep that fact under the rug as pettiness is absolutely ridiculous. Also, for the record, I couldn't care less about her hair or glasses one way or the other, though I will admit her voice makes me ill. But then again, so does McCain's, and he has a penis. Let's see, why I'm not going to vote for Sarah Palin: 1. She's a fundamentalist. I'm a pagan. Do the math. 2. Despite her words in the debate, I don't trust that she is supportive of gay rights. 3. She's completely anti-choice and unsympathetic to rape victims, and I don't trust her with my ability to obtain birth control. 4. She wants to rape the environment. 5. She doesn't give a damn about endangered species. 6. She's McCain's running mate, and I don't like McCain. These factors all come way before any personal opinion (which is that she's a liar, a loon, and not too bright). I could go on, but I think that's enough to make the point. My rights as a woman, as a pagan, and as a non-heterosexual are very important to me, as is the health of the planet. Anyway, then Palin tries to drive this "vote with your ovaries" point home with a misquote of former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: "There's a place in Hell reserved for women who don't support other women." . . . WHAT? "And now, California, let's see what a comment like I just made, how that is turned into whatever it'll be turned into tomorrow with the newspaper," Palin went on. Oh, how cutesy. She's trying to preempt the shitstorm that comment is going to start. Now, I'm not taking this out of context. She is saying women who don't vote for her are going to hell. Madeleine Albright was apparently also thinking "WTF?" because she made the following response: "Though I am flattered that Governor Palin has chosen to cite me as a source of wisdom, what I said had nothing to do with politics. This is yet another example of McCain and Palin distorting the truth, and all the more reason to remember that this campaign is not about gender, it is about which candidate has an agenda that will improve the lives of all Americans, including women. The truth is, if you care about the status of women in our society and in our troubled economy, the best choice by far is Obama-Biden." Yay, Madeleine! We now resume your regularly scheduled LJ. I need a pizza, stat.

Blame ladybug218 for this, who said, "Nic? I will pay you cold hard cash and sexual favors to write that fic" after certain comments (which appear in this fic) were made in chat. Spoilerly for SPN 4.01! ( I take no responsibility for the Macarena. )
Sat, Sep. 6th, 2008, 10:02 pm Hee.

Angelus usually votes Republican (when he can be bothered to care). But right now he's secretly supporting Barack Obama. Why? Because according to Jon Stewart, every time Barack Obama speaks, an angel has an orgasm. So, y'know, wishful thinking and all.
Sun, Aug. 31st, 2008, 02:40 am I am ashamed of my home state

After all the outpouring of love and hope in Denver, it's all the more outrageous to read about this bullshit happening in Minneapolis.

So, TWoP has their annual Tubey Awards up (for excellence or not-so-excellence in television). I can't be bothered to actually vote on the site (too much tedious clicking), so instead I'll give out my awards here (based on their nominees). ( Snipped for length. . . . )

Tue, Aug. 12th, 2008, 11:50 pm Dear NBC

You suck. You suck beyond the sucking of suckiness. Can we please see another slow motion replay of the poor girl falling off the beam? How about from the overhead angle? Complete with freeze frames and arrows? I didn't quite see the exact moment her heart broke. Fascist bully boys. YOU SUCK. PS: "A disaster of epic proportions"? WTF. Katrina was a disaster of epic proportions. The tsunami. Earthquakes that killed tens of thousands. Shut UP.

Fri, Aug. 8th, 2008, 03:32 pm Another reason why I <3 Canada
Border guards turn away church group aiming to picket bus victim's funeralCanadian border guards are under orders to prevent members of a fundamentalist American church from crossing into Canada to protest at the Saturday funeral for a Winnipeg man brutally killed on a Greyhound bus last week. Westboro Baptist Church, a controversial Kansas-based sect, intends to picket the funeral of 22-year-old Tim McLean to tell Canadians his slaying on July 30 was God's response to Canadian policies enabling abortion, homosexuality and adultery. These people are evil, vile, hateful whack-jobs who abuse freedom of speech and deliberately cause undue anguish to people who are already grieving. GO CANADA!
Mon, Aug. 4th, 2008, 12:57 pm Morgan Freeman is God, and therefore not allowed to die
Morgan Freeman seriously hurt in car accidentPolice say actor's car left Mississippi highway and flipped several times Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman was seriously injured in a car accident in Mississippi on Sunday night according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Police report that Freeman, 71, was driving eastbound on Highway 32 near the town of Ruleville, Miss., around 11:30 p.m. when his car left the road and flipped several times. Police say Freeman and a female passenger had to be extracted from the vehicle and the actor was flown to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., where spokeswoman Kathy Stringer said he was listed in serious condition. There was no word on the condition of the passenger. The hospital, commonly known as The Med, is an acute-care teaching facility that serves patients within 150 miles of Memphis. Ashley Norris, manager of the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, that is owned by Freeman, confirmed the actor was in a wreck. Norris said she had no other details. TMZ.com is reporting that state troopers said "The Dark Knight" star was talking at the scene of the accident and that a friend of the actor's said Freeman was sitting up and talking at the hospital. --------- He's one of my favorite actors, and I just love the sound of his voice. I hope he's going to be OK.
